Random Thoughts

- As much as it pains me to say it, the Toronto Maple Leafs are slowly becoming a scary-good team. And keep in mind, this comes from a rational, sane, non-Leafs fan. The amount of speedy young talent that GM Brian Burke has purposely acquired is mind boggling. Phil Kessel is finally living up to his lofty billing. Joffrey Lupul and Jake Gardiner, both acquired in the same trade from Anaheim, are flying down the ice and turning defenses inside-out. And Matt Frattin and Joey Crabb are giving the team energy and skill, while also providing the Leafs announcer with some great names.

Here’s to Ottawa being the next stop on the Brian Burke Rebuilding Tour.

FOOOOOTTT BALLLLLLLL!

Football returned to us last night, and it was glorious.

 LOTS of touchdowns. Record-breaking returns. Proof that Darren Sproles is significantly better then the last Undersized RB/ Return man thew Saints hadAaron Rodgers is still as god-like as we saw during the playoffs (The WR in that last clip, Randall Cobb, is the first player born in the 1990′s to score an NFL touchdown. Jesus I feel old.). And Greg Jennings is STILL the hardest, ahem, brother in football.

NFL 2011 MVP Predictions

Here are my preseason NFL MVP predictions. One thing you might notice is they are QB heavy, a noticeable trend in the league this year. QB play should be explosive this year, scoring will be up, and the 15 or so teams with talented QBs will separate from those that don’t…like the Jets.
